« I will be back ! »

The tittle works perfectly well with this new article, first of all with the fact I didn’t write anything on my blog for a good 2 months. And more importantly with the theme of today’s post, I hope everyone understood it with the more than famous quote “I will be back” form… (Suspense) TERMINATOR.

The terminator series is an American science fiction franchise created by James Cameron and Gale Anne Hurd. For those who never heard of it (where you living under a rock?)  or those who just don’t remember the story ( the first one came out in 1984, so it is surely understandable), here is a really concise summary:  The machines takes over the world in the future, directed by the artificial intelligence Skynet, his only mission is the annihilate humanity, he develops human-like-cyborg assassins: Terminators. A man John Connor is the head of the resistance to free humanity. So Skynet send a Terminator (played by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the past to kill John Connor’s, when she was pregnant of him, preventing the resistance from ever being created.

Why did I choose to speak about these movies? First because it is a classic, secondly the fifth Terminator is supposed to come out this year. And lastly, a way more interesting reason, is to see how even in 1984, people were already not comfortable with A.I. (artificial intelligence).

In these series the A.I. are threating humanity, they took over the power of their creator, and want to earth to themselves, isn’t it in an exaggerated way, what we are still afraid of 30 years after the release of the first movie? Of course nowadays, we are not afraid of robots killing ourselves, but may be more in the taking over the power. Humans are creating robots more and more performants, in Japan a whole hotel is managed by robots, so they can replace us in some tasks. I personally don’t think as it as a scary for my life or humanity kind of think, but as a creepy thing of course. Were it not about the fact that A.I. will probably think way faster than us, thus be way more ‘intelligent’ than us, I wouldn’t believe at all these theory of them being superior to us.

A.I. has always been hardly accepted by the public, even more with this movie, but I do think that is 50 years, we will be seen as we see people who used to be scared, or not accepting electricity or micro-wave. It is just another step in the development of technology for me. So will A.I. be accepted/ used by the most in a certain time?

Let me know what you think of A.I. in the comments below, don’t hesitate to subscribe, it’s free. Again it is just a just point of you. Till’ next time!

YouTube, my addiction.

Hey I am back with a new article!
If you’ve been reading my posts, you know that I like LOVE to watch movies, and series. In a logical sequence today, I am going to present you another addiction of mine YouTube.

For those who have been living under a rock for the past 8 years, YouTube is a social media based on videos, anybody can record anything ( or at least nearly) and share it with the community, you’ve been given free reign. It is an amazing website, isn’t it? A media with no censure and free expression!
How many times was I supposed to work, and I spend literally the whole day watching videos? Some people would say that it is a waste of time, but I STRONGLY disagree! I have learnt English through videos on YouTube (don’t worry I am still working on my English), some people find a moral support, I could go on and on for hours on why YouTube is exceedingly fantastic, but it would not be interesting for you.

I will just add an example. Louis Cole is a daily vlogger (video – blogger), and his job is to travel all over the world, record it and share it on YouTube (do I really need to precise that it is my dream job?!). And in his recent video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8hWSmppvUk ), a throwback on his year, and he reminds his viewers, that they should enjoy life more. This point is maybe obvious, but surely not said enough, in this world of constant competition to have the best job, the biggest house, and the fastest car.

So like he always finishes his vlogs “Peace out, enjoy life and live the adventure”.

Just a point of view.
Feel free to comment, share the post and subscribe (it’s free).

Lord of the Flies

Hey!

Today, I’m going to write about “Lord of the flies” a book signed William Golding. I have to admit, I didn’t choose to read this book, and it was for school. To be able to imagine my joy at first, when I’ve learnt I would have to read it, you have to know a few things. First, I am not a book kind of person, more a movie or series type (like you have probably understand reading my others posts).  Then secondly, something that you certainly have also noticed, I am not a native English speaker, so the idea of a big book in English wasn’t music to my ear.

But after this non-motivation phase, I received the book, first impression “ Whaaaat?”, an enormous fly on/behind a chubby kid. On the cover were also lots of very positive critics. So I started to read, and I directly felt in the book. So story takes place during the cold war, a plane hit by the storm crashed on a desert and uninhabited island.  On this plane there were only children.  All time long, we can see an evolution (or the opposite) of the way, a civilized and organized society can become a savagery. I convinced that is the part of the book that I prefer. It is maybe weird but reading about child acting and becoming savage, I often asked myself “What would you have done? *SPOILER ALERT* Would I have killed him?”.

So reading this book is exceedingly interesting, but something that is even more, is finding all the intertextuality and link with the historical context. Did you see the link with “the Garden of Edem” or with the “Bible” itself.

I recommend this book to everybody, who likes a book with a strong message but still a great adventure.  But once again, It's just a point of view!

Don't hesitate to leave a comment, I'll answer it!

Skins, my only love

In today’s article, I am going to tell you about my favorite series of all time, “Skins: UK”. You maybe already heard about it, but not by a real passionate. The first time, I watched it was 3 years ago, in only three days with a friend. It may not seems that impressive, but 6 seasons of 8 episodes of 45 minutes in this lap of time is a marathon for me. But recently, the 7th season was broadcast, the final one, that I have watched last week-end, so I had to talk about it, passionate that I am!

So what is it? Skins is a teen drama that follows the lives of a group of teenagers in Bristol, England, through the two years. So 1 season is 1 year, so 2 seasons for each generation. The link between the generations is nearly just that they go to the same school. And it explore real teenagers problems such as relationships, families, mental illness (such as eating and bipolar disorder), adolescent sexuality, drug addiction, death and bullying. Said like that it might doesn’t seem fun, but it really is, and addictive (I am the proof ).

Each viewer has a favorite generation, but for me it is the second, with Effy, Freddy, Cook,...
So here are my 2 favorites characters:

Effy Stonem, from the second generation, played by Kaya Scodelario, the younger sister form one of the main character form the first generation. Effy is the lead character pretty, popular and, like her brother, a natural leader. She is mysterious and distant, attempting to keep her own mental troubles hidden the all-time but she can’t.

Sid, from the first generation, played by Mike Bailey, who is Effy’s brother’s bestfriend. He lacks confidence, is socially uneasy and struggles with school work, but so charming for the viewer.

And don't be shy, if you have any disagrement, or anything to add: Comment!
And I'm going to re-watch an episode!
Once again, it is just a point of view...

Brick Mansions

Last night was movie night for my family and me.  So this week the film was "Brick mansions", an action movie. The plot: unable to control the crime, a colossal wall around this part of the city was built by the police. So now the district is under the control of Tremaine (the big boss, with obviously a lot of weapons and drugs). For the main character an undercover cop who wants to take down this crime lord and his plan to devastate the entire city. So to this point a real "cliché" of a bad American movie.

But even, if the plot is clearly disappointing, everyone will find something interesting: stylized action thrilling parkour stunts (with the co-founder of this physical training discipline, David Belle). And for the ladies, the presence of Paul Walker (sadly his last entirely finished movie).

The movie reminded me about something, but I didn’t know what… Another movie of course! “Banlieue 13”, the French version released in 2006 so eight years before the American one. The main character played by Paul Walker was Cyril Raffaelli in the French version. “Banlieue 13” is for me, I wouldn’t say excellent but a really good movie, unlike “Brick mansions”.

But how is it possible with the same writer Luc Besson, even some of the same actor David Belle and Paul Walker (I know, I repeat myself) to make a movie as disappointing as this one… I don’t know. So we have: first a movie with a real villain and a really naïve but handsome hero, help by an ex-criminal whose girlfriend (Do I really have to add that she is also beautiful?) has been kidnapped and a happy end. And in the second film, different gangs and for each one a boss, who are trying to survive in their district. The cop is here less naïve and the silly kidnapped girlfriend is in this one an intelligent sister and the end not so happy anymore. I'll let you guess which movie corresponds to each explanation.

If you want to add or react to anything, comment!

And remember this is just my point of view.
